Recipes for the New Year

Most foodies would agree; one of the most important feasts of the year is New Year’s Eve and New Years Day. Whether celebrated on the 1st of January, 31st of December or the 15th of February – the beginning of a new calendar is a momentous occasion for many different cultures.

In Mexico ‘Vispera de Año Nuevo’ is celebrated by eating one grape each of the 12 chimes of the midnight countdown. In Pakistan ‘Nawrooz’ is celebrated with a special meal called ‘Biryani’. In the Philippines – people celebrate ‘Bisperas ng Bagong Taon’ with Lechon (barbecued pork). In Denmark, Kransekage is a special desert especially for ‘Oudejaarsavond’.

As Australia is such a multicultural country, we all have different traditions involving delicious food. We’ve put together some of our favourite eggy delights for your New Years celebration.
